Stampin' & Scrappin' with Vicki
What do I write?? what do I say??? .............. I think this is one of the hardest newsletters I have had to write.

My thoughts and condolences are with those who have lost loved ones and homes during the latest Christchurch Earthquake.

I don't often write things in my newsletters about non Stampin' Up! things but a few of you have been asking and have got to know me more personally since I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.  A lot has happened since the Earthquake on February 22nd.  Some of you may be aware my Husband works in an old building in the CBD - he and my sister got out safely on the day of the Earthquake (apparently there is stuff everywhere at work all over the floor).  We haven't been allowed back in to have a look but things are now progressing (the building is red stickered - for those that don't know that means no one can enter the building as it is unsafe).  The building is still standing but the lift shaft is unsafe and is being pulled apart.  So far they have taken 5.5 tonnes of concrete off the top of the lift shaft with a crane - they thought that was all they would need to do but have since found out that there is all the old lift pulleys from the lift when it was first built to be taken out before they can take the lift shaft apart to make it safe for people to enter to get things out (this will be fun as we are on the third level carrying things down all the stairs).  Next week we are allowed to have 4 people go into the business for an hour to get out what we can - hopefully after that we can go back and clear everything out.  So it has been a slow process waiting to hear what can be done.  So in the mean time we are in the process of setting up a new place for work which has been interesting as so many other people have been looking for business premises as well.

The night of the Earthquake Andrew rescued four Australians from Hagley park they were here for a conference and unfortunately all they had was the clothes they were standing in (and one had just come out of the gym so that wasn't much).  All of their gear is as far as we know still in the Crown Plaza including passports.... the lot.......... They are all now safely home in Adelaide and Sydney.  Andrew also spent 7 long days out at Burnham helping with DVI (Disaster Victim Identification)....... not a nice thing to do but someone needs to do it.  While there was no school we had "Vicki School" at home I had two other kids here too as their parents needed to go back to work......... the kids really enjoyed that but I'm sure I must have been one of those bossy strict teachers ....... they all have "Vicki School" books which they wrote in so they can keep them for a record of the earthquake and what we did.

Our house is fine just a few more superficial cracks but that's mainly cosmetic.  Please let me know if you have been displaced from you house as I know some of you will have been.

Thank you to the girls who came and helped me make some Thinking of You cards for school we ended up making 22 (some of you may have seen these as I have just posted them on my blog).  If you click on the pictures below it should link to my blog if you want to know what stamp sets I've used for each of the cards.
